UACCB TRIO/Student Support Services receives grant funding for an additional five years
Student Support Services is a grant program funded by the U.S. Department of Education whose mission is to advance and defend the ideal of equal educational opportunity by helping disadvantaged students overcome economic, social, academic, and cultural barriers to higher education. Students who are low-income, a first-generation college student, or have a documented disability are eligible to join the program. Students must also be a U.S. citizen or national of the U.S., possess the potential and motivation for college success, and demonstrate academic need for support. UACCB TRIO SSS participants are expected to receive a minimum of three project services per semester.
Support services are free to all TRIO SSS participants and include academic advising, career development, tutoring, transfer assistance/advising, computer lab access, technology check-out, workshops, cultural events, and scholarships.
“The staff and I in TRIO are so happy to be refunded for another 5 years,” said Ronda McLelland, Director of TRIO/Student Support Services. “It has been an absolute pleasure to work with UACCB students in achieving their goals in education, and we are excited about being able to provide these wonderful services to UACCB students for another 5 years.”
