Operating Accountant:  The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville seeks an Operating Accountant. This position reports to the Controller and is a 12-month, full-time, non-classified, non-exempt position which is governed by Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Requirements: The position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; plus five years of experience in accounting or a related area.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will be required to have knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting, GAAP and GASB, financial statements and reports, accounting ledgers and journals, Microsoft Office and computer technology related to accounting systems.  Must have the ability to analyze data and prepare financial reports, to interpret and apply provisions of laws, rules, or policies to specific situations and to maintain routine accounting data in appropriate ledgers and journals.
Responsibilities:  Will reconcile bank statements; make bank transfers, stop payments and key necessary entries as required.  Enter and run trial balances and reconcile out-of-balance amounts.  Prepare reports of operations, expenditure reports, and other information concerning financial requirements.  Monitor grant activities and process billings/drawdown of grants.  Process budget modifications.  Review and process invoices and other fiscal documents for payments.  Perform other duties as assigned.

Assistant to the Chancellor: The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville seeks an Assistant to the Chancellor. This position is a full-time, non- classified, exempt position that oversees and manages all office procedures and other tasks as assigned by the Chancellor.
Responsibilities: Oversee all aspects of general office coordination; maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position; serve as coordinator of all media relations, for the campus; receive and direct visitors to the office; maintain calendar to coordinate work flow and meetings; monitor and assist with maintenance of the organization’s website and intranet; answer telephones and take appropriate action; open, sort and distribute correspondence, including faxes and e-mail; prepare responses to correspondence containing routine inquires; and file and retrieve organizational documents, records and reports. This individual will also coordinate, prepare and direct office services, such as records, budget preparation and personnel, utilizing Microsoft Office, Datatel and other software applications. May conduct research, compile data and prepare papers for consideration and presentation. Will schedule and coordinate meetings; prepare agendas for a variety of meetings; attend various meetings as requested in order to compile, transcribe and distribute minutes of meetings; and make travel arrangements and prepare travel reconciliations. This position requires supervising support personnel and volunteers and coordinating special event projects.
Qualifications: Demonstrate excellent communication skills both written and verbal; must be analytical and possess problem-solving skills; requires attention to detail and accuracy. Additional competencies include flexibility, adaptability, teamwork and customer service orientated. Travel and an alternative work schedule are required on occasion.
Requirements: The applicant must have a bachelor's degree in communication or related degree; plus two years of experience or specialized training in related field. Experience in higher education is desired. An operating knowledge or the ability to learn Datatel or similar student information system is required.
