Dr. Rob Johnstone, founder and president of the National Center for Inquiry and Improvement, told the board of visitors at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville that the college was making impressive strides in its efforts to prepare to launch the Guided Pathways model this fall.

Despite the chilly, windy weather, a crowd of community business leaders and campus faculty and staff gathered on the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville campus to break ground on the new workforce training center Jan. 17 on the northeast corner of campus.

Scotty Brewer works on a project during an AC/DC electrical class at UACCB. According to the 2018 Arkansas Economic Security Report, UACCB graduates in the electrical/electronics equipment installation and repair category had a 92 percent employment rate in 2016 and 2017, including both full-time and part-time employees, within the first year after graduation.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that installation, maintenance, and repair occupations will grow 7 percent between 2016-2026, which will result in approximately 388,200 new jobs.
