The Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre on Tour will perform Stone Soup at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 31 at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Admission is free. Children’s Theatre on Tour is part of the State Services program at the Arkansas Arts Center, the state’s premiere center for visual and performing arts. Recognized by The Drama League as one of the best regional theatre companies in America, the Arkansas Arts Center Children's Theatre is the only professional company in Arkansas that produces children's literary works for the stage.

“The Children’s Theatre on Tour brings the magic of the theatre to thousands of children and families across the state,” Arkansas Arts Center Executive Director Todd Herman said. “Every year, their performances wow the audiences and create extraordinary theatre experiences that educate, challenge and inspire young people and their communities.”

In the production of Stone Soup, a wanderer – down on his luck, lonely, and hungry – knocks on the door of a little house at the end of a long road. Though the house looks to be nearly as down on its luck as he, the traveler discovers a treasure within even more precious than a pot of delicious soup: he finds a friend. Earnest charm, playful imagination, and heart-warming music are the key ingredients in this play. Stone Soup is adapted from the traditional tale and directed by Keith Smith with music by Lori Isner. Tickets are available at First Community Bank locations in Batesville, Southside and Cave City and at UACCB. Tickets will also be available at the door the night of the event.
