Nursing & Allied Health
This division offers programs which prepare the student for a career in the Health Care Field.
Programs offered include Registered Nursing (LPN to RN option and Generic entry option), Practical Nursing, Nursing Assistant, Respiratory Care, EMT-Basic, and Paramedic.
All students accepted into one of the Division of Nursing and Allied Health programs must agree to a criminal background check and random drug screen. Faculty will provide information with the acceptance letter about the criminal background check.
Nursing and Allied Health Degree Options
EMT – Basic
A one-semester course serving as an introduction to the study of emergency medical services and the basic principles, procedures, and techniques of prehospital emergency care. The emphasis of this course is to provide the student with a basic knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, spinal immobilization techniques, basic splinting and wound management. Successful completion of this course prepares the student to apply for the National Registry EMT-B Examination. Certification as an EMT-B is required for selection to the Paramedic Program.

The EMT-Paramedic Technical Certificate Program consists of three semesters of concentrated study including classroom instruction, hospital clinical experiences and field internship with an Advanced Life Support ambulance service. Students completing the three semesters of EMT-Paramedic courses and 27 hours of general education requirements will receive an associate of applied science degree.

Nursing Assistant
The Nursing Assistant program is a seven-credit hour, Certificate of Proficiency program combining classroom instruction with clinical training. This program meets the certification requirements of the Arkansas Department of Human Services, Office of Long-Term Care. The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville’s curriculum provides instruction with emphasis on technical skills, professional relationships, and workplace ethics. Graduates of the program are eligible to apply for the written and skills test to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. Graduates of this program are prepared to work in long-term care, acute-care, and home-health care settings.
Practical Nursing
The Practical Nursing technical certificate program combines classroom instruction with clinical experience. The course of study meets the requirements of the Arkansas State Board of Nursing for practical nursing programs. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates may be eligible to apply for the National Council of Licensure Examination to become a Licensed Practical Nurse.

The Division of Nursing and Allied Health provides an associate degree education program for those qualified individuals who want to provide direct patient care as members of the health care delivery system. Graduates are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses.

Respiratory Care
The Respiratory Care Program is offered through a partnership between UACCB and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Students at UACCB complete all required general education and prerequisite courses prior to admission to the professional curriculum. Students who are admitted to the UAMS professional curriculum complete the coursework on the UACCB campus with lecture courses delivered via interactive video conferencing supplemented by Blackboard via the Internet. Laboratory sessions are held on the UACCB campus and clinical rotations are scheduled at regional facilities. Following satisfactory completion of all respective degree requirements, UAMS is authorized to award the Bachelor of Science degree with a major in respiratory care. The professional curriculum is offered as either a twenty-month full time or three-year part time track. Students who complete their prerequisites on campus following the list of prerequisite courses in the UACCB catalog (page 43) can be awarded the A.A. General Education degree from UACCB.
