GED General Education Development
Earning the GED diploma can be the first step in helping yourself reach both career and educational goals. This credential is recognized by employers and colleges nationwide.
Eligibility
Anyone at least 18 years old and not enrolled in high school can enroll in UACCB GED classes without restrictions. Sixteen and seventeen year old students must meet certain requirements and should contact the Adult Education Department to learn how to qualify.
Testing
Upon enrollment, students are given the TABE test to determine their skill levels in reading, language, and math. Classes are provided for those needing instruction. Once the student demonstrates the skills necessary to pass the GED test, he is given a Pre-GED test, which covers the same subjects covered on the official exam: Language Arts, Writing, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and Language Arts, Reading. Passing scores on the Pre-GED test qualify the student to take the official GED test which is given weekly on the UACCB campus. All tests and classes are provided free of charge.
Graduation
There is a formal graduation ceremony each year in May. UACCB offers a full-tuition scholarship to a qualified GED graduate. Contact UACCB for scholarship criteria.
