Tutoring Services

The Student Success Center is a free tutoring program offered to all UACCB students.  Appointments or referrals are not necessary to receive tutoring.  Tutoring is provided for all subjects that are offered by UACCB.

The main service provided by the Student Success Center is tutoring on the individual level. Individual tutoring is provided in courses ranging from developmental to advanced courses and help is even available for on-line classes. To be a more successful student, seek help before falling behind in a course.

The Student Success Center is located in Room 216 of the Main Classroom Building and the direct phone number is 870-612-2041. Our extension is 1241. Spring semester hours are:

     Monday - Thursday, 7:30am - 6:00pm (Student Success Center)

     Friday, 8am - 5pm (Student Success Center)

Sunday, 2pm - 7pm (Row-Johns Library)

Printed Materials

The Student Success Center can supply a student with pamphlets and printouts which detail ways to build self-esteem, identify and learn to use one’s learning style and various other self-help works including test anxiety; Hand-outs are also available for math formulas and rules, grammar rules, and preparing an introduction, thesis statement, and conclusion.

Videos

The Student Success Center has a variety of instructional videos. VHS videos are available in subject areas such as Anatomy, Economics, Marketing, Business Law, Accounting and Finance. Our most popular videos are math videos which are sent to us by the publishers of our math books. They are excellent resources which parallel the study in our Pre-Algebra, Introduction to Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, and College Algebra courses. Check out is done just like a library book.

Models

Anatomy and Physiology, Biology, and nursing program students have found our human anatomical models to be helpful in their studies.  We have a human torso complete with the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, and reproduction system.  We also have a brain, heart, ear, nerve synapse, eyeball, and skeletal system. A microscope is available upon request complete with various slides.

Plato

For students interested in receiving tutoring to help prepare for a course you are not currently enrolled in, a self-paced computerized tutorial called PLATO is available.  PLATO is perfect for the student hoping to prepare him or herself before enrolling in a course. PLATO is available online and  can be done from your home Internet connection. Please see Mr. Broadwater to be enrolled into a PLATO learning class.

Tutors

Institutional tutors are available Monday through Friday. Student tutors are available throughout the year. They are chosen for their expertise in selected fields of study and are hired to fill work study positions. Students who hold expertise in a certain field of study are encouraged to apply to become tutors.
