REPORTING THE ANNUAL DISCLOSURE OF CRIME
STATISTICS
The Office of Student Services prepares this report to comply with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act. The full text of this report can be located on our website at www.uaccb.edu. This report is prepared in cooperation with local law enforcement agencies, the Administrative Cabinet, and the Office of Student Services. Each entity provides updated information concerning criminal offenses, the campus Crisis Plan, incident reports, and educational efforts and programs to comply with the Act.
Campus crime, arrest, and referral statistics include those reported to designated campus officials and local law enforcement agencies.
Each year, a postcard notification that provides the web site to access this report is made to all enrolled students. Faculty and staff receive similar notification with their paycheck. Copies of the report may also be obtained at the Office of Student Services. All prospective employees may obtain a copy from Human Resources. The report is available to prospective students upon request from the Office of Student Services.
REPORTING CRIMES AND OTHER EMERGENCIES
The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville is a non-residential institution. The campus maintenance staff serves as campus security personnel. The Independence County Sheriff’s Department patrols the campus periodically between 10:30 p. m. and 8:00 a. m. Monday through Friday and during the weekend.
Students, faculty, or staff encountering emergencies or violations of college regulations or local, state, or federal law, should report these incidents to one of the following officers in the order in which they are listed.

Responses to these reports will vary according to the situations. Emergencies will receive immediate action. Reported violations of local, state, or federal law will be investigated by the Office of Student Services and referred to proper authorities. Information acquired in this investigation will be used in selecting an appropriate course of action. Reported violations of college regulations will be investigated and, where appropriate, adjudicated by the Office of Student Services.
TIMELY WARNINGS
In the event that a situation arises that, in the judgment of the Administrative Cabinet, constitutes an ongoing or continuing threat, a campus wide “timely warning” will be issued. The warning will be issued through the college email system to students, faculty, and staff.
Depending on the particular circumstances of the crime, especially in all situations that could pose an immediate threat to the community and individuals, the Office of Student Services may also post notices at the primary entrances to all campus buildings.
Anyone with information warranting a timely warning should report the circumstances to the Office of Student Services by phone (870-612-2014) or in person. The Office of Student Services is located in Independence Hall.
CAMPUS POLICIES CONCERNING SECURITY AND ACCES TO
CAMPUS FACILITIES

Community College at Batesville’s regular operational hours are from 8:00 a. m.
until 5:00 p. m. Monday through Friday.
The
CAMPUS LAW ENFORCEMENT
The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville’s campus security have the authority to ask persons for identification and to determine whether individuals have lawful business at UACCB. Campus security has the authority to issue illegal parking warnings and have vehicles towed with any charges billed to offending students, faculty, or staff. Campus security does not possess arrest power. All crime victims and witnesses are strongly encouraged to immediately report crime to the Office of Student Services and the appropriate police agency.
CONFIDENTIAL REPORTING PROCEDURES
All reports will be investigated. The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville does not have procedures for voluntary, confidential reporting of crime statistics. Violations of law will be referred to law enforcement agencies. When a potentially dangerous threat to the College community arises, timely reports and warnings will be issued through e-mail announcements, the posting of flyers, in-class announcements, or other appropriate means.
SECURITY AND CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAMS
The Dean of Student Services will compile campus crime statistics, and these statistics will be distributed annually to all students, faculty, and staff. Information is disseminated to students and employees through awareness packets. The purpose of all awareness and crime prevention programs is to encourage students and employees to be aware of their responsibility for their own security and the security of others.
POLICY ON ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AND ILLEGAL DRUGS
The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville’s policy states that any student guilty of drinking, being under the influence of, or possessing intoxicating beverages on College property or at College functions is subject to disciplinary action and/or state and/or federal law. The policy also states that the illegal use of drugs is strictly prohibited on College property or at College functions. Any student found using, under the influence of, or distributing illegal drugs is subject to disciplinary action and/or state and/or federal law. Disciplinary action ranges from a verbal reprimand to dismissal.
SUBSTANCE ABUSE EDUCATION
PREVENTION PROGRAMS:

FEDERAL SANCTIONS:
All state and federal laws pertaining to controlled substances and alcohol abuse are enforced on campus. Local, state, and federal sanctions for controlled substances range from a fine of $575.00 for simple possession to twenty years for felony possession.
COUNSELING AND
TREATMENT SERVICES:
Students wishing to seek help with an alcohol or illicit drug problem can contact the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville’s Office of Student Services or North Arkansas Development Council’s Alcohol and Drug Treatment Program at 870-793-2221, for counseling or treatment services.
SEXUAL ASSAULT:
PROGRAMS AND PROCEDURES
The Student Right to know and Campus Security Act require that students be provided information concerning campus sexual assault programs and the procedures which should be followed once an offense has occurred.
PROCEDURES:
All sexual assaults (rape, attempted rape, or acquaintance rape) should be reported to a college official or the local police. Individuals should report a sexual assault to any of the following officers at the college: Dean of Student Services, Vice Chancellor for Learning and Student Services. Once contacted, institutional personnel will assist the student in notifying the appropriate authorities, if the student requests the assistance of these personnel.
Individuals may also report a sexual assault to the
Independence County Sheriff’s Department (870-793-8838) or

ON-CAMPUS
DISCIPLINARY ACTION:
Students can report a sexual assault to any Student Services officer. The school policy governing disciplinary action will be followed when dealing with students accused of sexual assault offenses.
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS:
The Office of Student Services has printed materials which deal with sexual assault, including date rape. This literature on rape and sexual offenses is available to any student, faculty or staff upon request. Each semester the office of Student Services sponsors workshops and student forums to provide educational information about sexual offenses. These programs include procedures to be followed in the event of an assault.
